Defiance
The information below is from page 22 of the 1928 Brunswick Billiard and Bowling Catalog, Brunswick, Balke and Collender Company.

Construction: Solid frame, non-sectional type. Frame fashioned of selected, seasoned, and scientifically kiln-dried lumber, without top molding. Sides and ends of frame are securely mitred together and reinforced with blocks rigidly glued to the inside of the frame. The same lumber is used in making the legs, securely glued together and reinforced with glue blocks. Frame is securely fastened to the legs by means of strong iron bolts.

Wood and Finish: Wood used in the construction of the Defiance is solid gumwood with a light Walnut finish. The entire unit is made according to the best Brunswick standards of good material and careful workmanship.

Slate Bed: Consists of three pieces of good quality slate of regulation 1 inch thickness firmly secured to a wooden frame.

Cushion Rails: The cushion rails of the Defiance table are made up of solid gumwood body covered with a solid top of the same material. Cushion bolts extend through the rails. Bolt heads are covered with an ornamental cap. The rails are carefully finished in a light Walnut color.

Cushions: The Defiance is equipped with Standard Monarch Cushions, certified by a trademark plate countersunk in the cap of the cushion rail.

Pocket Irons: The pocket irons are No. 6 style, countersunk in the ends of the cushion rails by means of brass sockets.
